My mass comm week was filled with stress and time conflicts, but overall it was an interesting week. While I had several projects to work on I was still able to visit four panels. The first I saw in my Account Planning class over the effects and uses of digital media buying presented by a firm in Austin called JustMedia. I took a picture with one of the presenters, but Twitter sucks so my picture never uploaded correctly. The panel had a lot of content, but it was a little scary considering how much data they use to track consumers. The second one I saw was over storytelling. Dale Blasingame moderated the panel, so it was littered with interesting questions. However, I was disappointed because the title was misleading. While it stated that it was over storytelling it meant journalism storytelling. Which is utter crap(no offense to journalism majors). David Goins led the panel, but it was sad to learn that a professional writer such as himself hates writing. While he does read a lot I asked him if he ever wrote as a creative oulet. The answer was no. He just reads good journalism and nothing else. The third panel I went to was for the advertising club which had the Chicago portfolio school speaking to us about what it takes to get a job in the industry. I am an officer for the ad club, so I wasn’t able to tweet this panel because I had other duties, but this one was a lot of fun and interesting to listen to. My fourth panel was over Nature and Social media. This panel was led by Dale Blasingame as well and was incredibly interesting. Considering they went over a bunch of parks in Texas that I love to frequent. I may have been 1 of out of 4 people who actually knew all of them, but the over all lecture was really cool and fun to attend. Blasingame is a hoot and a half.

    Hey Christopher,
I totally agree with you about the time conflicts and stress. While Mass Comm Week was pretty cool, I just wish the times would have been a little different than class times. The fourth panel you attended, Nature and Social Media seems like it would of been an interesting panel to attend. Those two concepts are vastly different, so seeing how they go hand and hand would be a nice discussion.
