This was my first time attending Mass Comm week, and I was only able to attend two events. However, I found them both interesting and inspiring. I left both panels excited for my future possibilities.
The first panel I attended was “Adventures in media innovation” at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Alkek. I found this panel interesting because it featured three different innovators talking about the future of media (Burt Herman, Trei Brundrett and Anna Tauzin). All three were extremely helpful and inspiring, and Dr. Cindy Royal did a great job of asking them questions. Trei Brundrett gave students great advice during the panel. He discussed the importance of being able to write and effectively share your ideas.
its really important to listen to people giving you feedback and use that in a positive way. @clockwerks #mcweek

The second panel I attended was “Storytelling in a multi-platform age: National Geographic” at 12:30 PM on Thursday in Old Main. In this session, David Brindley, managing editor of National Geographic magazine shared how the icon National Geographic competes in the digital world. An example of this was the transition from photography to using video for digital copies. “Rather than one image, [National Geographic] can bring a whole experience to the readers through video.” I found it interesting seeing the layouts and designs of the newest issue on the screen; this is because I’m designing a magazine in my Digital Media class using the same program.
we tell stories no one else is telling across as many platforms as we can #mcweek @wordies
