One of my favorite websites/apps to use is Pinterest. It’s a great concept: having “boards” and “pins” like a cork board (clever), and you can post/repost whatever with or without a description and an assigned picture, tag it, and have it forever on your page. Plus it’s free! You just have to register. The newsfeed shows the pins the people or businesses you follow have posted or repinned, and also has posts that are “picked for you” based on what your boards, pins, and kinds of pages you follow.
I’m not a very organized person, but I love that Pinterest does it for me. I can make my own boards with different categories of items, and pin it to whatever board I feel it belongs to. It gets addictive, I usually go on repinning sprees because I pin something then find related pins and so it goes on.
Not only does it have the shopping element to it, it has social media within it. By following friends (or any of their boards) that also have a Pinterest and seeing what they like and vice versa. Pinterest has grown SO much that it’s pretty much everywhere on the web. Whatever site you go on you can share on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, through E-mail, or Pinterest. It is integrated with all other sites to be perpetuated by any social means. And on different browsers, such as Google Chrome, you can install an extension or add on for free that picks out all the links/pictures you can share on Pinterest, to a certain board, and voila! You’re done. But it’s not only that it’s social media, it shows a lot of “how-to’s” and “DIY” pins that actually gets you to try it out, and then share your experience. I’m not sure if there’s anything I would improve on it, right now. It seems perfect for me, and also for the 70 million other active users.
I love Pinterest! I use it all the time for DIY projects and recipes. I also have a bunch of random boards for funny pictures and other random interests. It’s my go to if I want to find makeup or cooking tips.
I love how you mentioned that it is also a platform to buy things. It’s not the biggest thing I think about when I’m on Pintrest. I also like how you can have secret boards on the site. Like many girls, I am definitely guilty of having a secret wedding board.
I agree, I love that Pinterest does the organizing for the user – It is such a user-friendly site & has a really clean look to it. I also like that you pointed out how Pinterest has kinda piggy-backed on other websites/browsers, so people are still using Pinterest, even when they’re not on Pinterest. Its a great idea on their part.
