Hey y’all! I’m Sarah Blackburn and I am a senior Mass Comm major graduating in December (fingers crossed). I just got married over the summer, so it’s going to be interesting figuring out how to balance married life and my last (very busy) semester of classes. Shoutout to my homeboy who cooks me top notch dinners! To the left is a photo one of our friends snapped at our wedding right after the ceremony. It’s one of my favorites.
I wanted to take this class to get some real experience with coding. I love the idea of literally writing a website into existence, so I’m excited to get to do that this semester. I was an English major until I switched to Mass Comm last fall and made English my minor, so I love language and writing and coding seems just like a more hands-on extension of those two things for me. I hope to work as a writer and eventually an editor at a magazine or other online publication, so having the behind the scenes knowledge of coding languages and how to optimize websites will be really helpful in the future. And I think for all of us as up and coming communicators, these are really necessary skills.
One of my favorite websites is a blog called A Beautiful Mess. It’s a DIY/fashion/food/lifestyle blog that I’ve been following for a few years now, and the two sisters that own and run it have really come into their digital presence in the last year or so, which has been cool to follow. I just love that I can learn how to make, say, Creme Brulee Topped Cinnamon Rolls and how to build my own honeycomb shelves in one fell swoop.
Congratulations! Your wedding picture is beautiful!
Congratulations! Your wedding dress is beautiful, by the way. 🙂
And I love the site you linked to! I’ve found some of my favorite recipes there. Have you tried their red velvet pancakes recipe? It’s to die for!
I haven’t tried the red velvet pancakes but that sounds amazing! I love pancakes so I’ll have to try those out!
