“Mariachi Sammy”

To all my peeps, my name is Samuel Ramirez, but you can call me Sammy. I am a 20-year-old Public Relations major and Business Administration minor here at Texas State. I was born in Encinitas, California, but I consider Fort Worth, Texas, my hometown. I decided to take this class because it seemed like a useful tool to know and it seemed interesting to me. Coding looks tough, but I like the challenge.

My life is pretty simple. I care about baseball, music and my family. I’m not too complex but I’m also not too simple. I’m not the life of the party, but I’ll still be having a good time. I’ve come to love baseball so much that I would like to pursue a career in sports PR, preferably for my favorite team, the Texas Rangers. When I’m not watching baseball,  I work as a professional mariachi and have been for about 5 years, playing in different venues around Texas and competed in other states like California and New Mexico. I like to watch all types of movies, especially comic book movies. I love to play catch or work on my swing at the batting cages. Food is the best, especially when it’s bad for you. I’m into almost any type of music; but anything except country, though.

I obsessively scope the highlights and news feed at the Major League Baseball website always keeping up with the League and the Rangers. I like to know everything about the MLB and I read tons of articles to see how sports writers write their stories, knowing I may do the same in the future. If you’d like to read about anything baseball, visit MLB.com.

It’s really cool that you’re involved in mariachi music because I definitely don’t know a lot of people who are involved with it. Would you ever do any sort of PR for music?
