My name is Jasmine Kardani, and I am a 20-year-old Junior at Texas State University. I was raised in Spring, Texas and attended Klein Collins High School. I was involved in many activities in high school and have continued to be in many activities in college as well. Currently, I am the Social Media Administrator for the Texas State radio Station, KTSW 89.9.
Since taking on my role at the radio station, I have gained more of an interested in working with online media. I decided to take this class to learn more about how to build websites from the ground up, and get more of a taste for a digital media aspect. Next semester I hope to take another coding class just to increase my knowledge on the subject. I believe this is a beneficial skill to know.
My favorite website to visit is Buzzfeed because it has a wide variety of content such as videos, quizzes and new articles. Buzzfeed allows for its users to engage with content on its website from commenting on posts to contributing to the community articles. Most people in our generation like to generate their own content and Buzzfeed understands that. I appreciate any website that provides a fun, interactive setting for its users while still performing the task of providing useful information. I hope the skills I develop from this class will allow me to work for a media company like Buzzfeed.
Hi Jasmine, I enjoyed reading your post. I too believe coding skills are necessary, and I plan to take another course in it next semester. I agree with you on learning more about building websites and learning the aspects of digital media. The skills we learn in this course, are skills potential jobs will be looking for. I just recently discovered Buzzfeed, and you’re right, it is an awesome sight. Like you said, anytime you have a fun interactive sight that provides information, you have a winner!
Jasmine,
I find it very interesting that you are involved with KTSW. Recently a friend of mine began DJing and working with the station. I have always have a passion for radio, especially talk radio. If you think about how popular podcasts are, its interesting that 80 years ago radio was the major media of in home entertainment. I am interested mostly in print media, but have the same interest in learning web building skills.
