I’ve had a little bit of experience coding from the FDOM class I took last semester. One of the assignments was to create a webpage using TextWrangler and HTML so it was easy to create the website for Project 1. FDOM briefly introduced me to CSS but I didn’t get to work with it much so using it now is a little confusing.
Honestly, I thought coding would be way more complicated, perhaps involve math or something, so I’ve been pleasantly surprised by WebPub so far. I’ve been looking forward to taking this class, the idea of having a professional looking website that I created sounds awesome. I hope to impress myself (and potential employers) with whatever I come up with.
After looking around at different websites, I found a guy named Erik Nielsen’s professional website. I’m not sure if it’s a sample website or a real one – doesn’t matter. I like it. It has really cool graphics on the home page. The rest of the website is pretty simple; a white background with easy-to-read dark-gray font. Nothing too complicated. I might change the colors a little bit for my website but ideally, I’d like to create something very similar to this.
I do agree with your statement about us producing some portfolio work that can get our talent noticed. Zmikly’s class was the first time I coded also so I get where your coming from. Cool website and I think its even more exciting that when I move my cursor over your image it brightens up.
I really like the landing page on this website. That is one of the things I would love to learn how to code! It makes for such an interesting splash page instead of a static photo.
I’m excited to learn how to make professional web sites as well.
