This has been one of the best courses that I have taken at Texas State and one of the ones that I have learned the most from. My favorite assignment was Project 3 using Twitter Bootstrap. I liked that I was able to actually write the code for the website and make it the way that I wanted it to look instead of relying on a pre-existing template. There’s just something really satisfying about seeing all the coding behind it turn into something beautiful. It’s really rewarding to see all the hard work you put into a project come to life.
One of the struggles that I had in this course was learning the difference between a class and an id in CSS and how to apply it to HTML. I also had some trouble with learning to do the responsive design aspect in Project 2. Although it did start to make some sense, I still struggle with it and was overjoyed when I learned that Bootstrap already had a responsive class built into its CSS. I want to continue learning how to manipulate CSS and eventually learn how to do animation using Javascript and how to use XTML instead of HTML.
I remember freaking out right before the deadline of my first project because I had a Windows computer and could not get any FTP server to work. Fortunately, I was able to make my own using Windows File Explorer. After that, I honestly felt like I could do anything. Before this class, I had no idea what I wanted to do after I graduate this coming May and that scared me. I have never been excited to work on a project and stay up until 4 in the morning because I got so invested in it like I have in this course. And after completing Project 3 and attending the Web Publishing panel during Mass Comm week, I know exactly what career path I want to take upon graduation and that has lifted a humongous weight off of my shoulders.
