Prior to this class, I had very basic knowledge of HTML coding. Last semester I took FDOM, which taught me the basics for HTML and CSS. However, we did not go in depth to CSS coding. We were given the CSS templates, but did not gain knowledge on how to alter the template or learn the terms “class” and “id”. After being in this web design class thus far, I have an all new appreciation for those that create websites.

Creating a website requires time, dedication and patience in order to produce an effective, clean site. Now that we have started CSS coding, I am nervous, but excited to learn how to create an attractive website. A website that I find very clean and eye-catching is Francesca’s. It is a website for a clothing store, so pictures are definitely important. I love the use of different sized pictures and the block style. Vibrant colors on a neutral background is very eye-catching. They use a theme of colors and fonts, which provides consistency throughout the website. Though graphics are used frequently, customers are still able to browse the site easily.

I completely agree with you about gaining so much more respect for website creators! And FDOM definitely just scraped the surface of the world of coding, WebPub is so much more in depth which makes it a little challenging, but exciting. I also really like the website you chose for inspiration. I love the bright colors and the simplicity of the background and font because they compliment each other, it’s not too overdone.

I love Francesca’s too! Their website looks just as good as their stores do in person. I really like the way they have overlapping text on big, beautiful pictures that really catches your eye. Good choice for an example!
