My first experience with coding was my freshman year while taking Fundamentals of Digital and Online Media. We learned beginner coding, and I felt really cool being able to add that onto my resume. It was fun learning the basic stuff because I would get so used to everything and wouldn’t even have to really think about what I was doing because it came so natural. Then, we learned a little more into it and I realized I never wanted to do it again! There were too many things to memorize, and it would be so much easier to just buy a domain off another site and edit it from already made layouts.

When I signed up for this class, I had no idea I would be getting into coding again. I thought web design meant I would be doing graphics and all that creative artsy stuff, but I’m pretty excited to start working with Photoshop in this course. Coding has honestly been a lot more enjoyable than I remember, until we got to CSS. HTML came pretty easy to me, and i enjoyed it because I am a visual learner and a perfectionist. It was nice knowing everything had a place and learning how to make it happen. I feel like with more practice and messing around with CSS on my own, I will eventually get the hang of it. I’ve realized that there is a lot more to coding than I knew and I have a much greater appreciation for websites and developers.

One of my favorite websites is Miss Adventures Abroad. It is a blog run by a young adventurer, Catalina. She studied abroad, and now she lives and works abroad as a blogger and tour guide in Florence, Italy. She is really avid on social media and links everything back to her website. I actually found her website from her Instagram and I’m hooked. She posts a lot of amazing pictures and articles that help every traveler get around easily and make every reader want to travel.

I agree with you, CSS is much more complex than HTML. HTML was pretty easy for me to learn, and I think if I just keep practicing I could figure it out. I’m very excited for Photoshop too, since a lot of internships I’ve seen require knowledge of Photoshop. This site is very neat, and the color tones are very quirky and soft. I love her posts too!

Ang! I really like the website you linked to! It’s clean and I feel like our generation is more attracted to big images on websites and that’s exactly what she appeals to. Just glancing through a few of the pages, her content seems really interesting and triggers that inner nomad in me that desires to travel all over the world. Plus, she’s been to Italy and I love Italy! Thanks for the share.
