During mass comm week I attended four events. They were “Merchants of Doubt” screening, PR trends, the meet and greet, and a broadcast journalist story by Carolyn Baker. My favorites were definitely the meet and greet and Carolyn Baker. At the meet and greet I met a lady name Dara Quackenburg. She works for PR newswire. Ms. Dara was so passionate about what she was talking about, I could literally listen to her talk for hours. I think I spent most of the meet and greet just sitting with her and talking. She truly loves what she does and knows so much about PR, its crazy.

My second favorite was Ms. Carolyn Baker. She was the first female news director that wfaa has hired. She discussed so many things. One of them being the art of balancing work and home. She is a single parent and she’s also a very important at her job so things do get a little hectic. She discussed how to prioritize and be assertive at work. She was super energetic for it to be 9:30 in the morning.

Overall, I thought mass comm week was pretty cool. It was a great experience to see all these great people in the the field that you eventually want to be in. That alone was super inspiring. People telling their story about how they ended up in these super high power positions and a lot of was hard work meeting the right circumstances. I wish my teachers last year had encouraged me to attend events like my teachers did this year. I think I could have taken a lot from it.
