Mass Comm Week was such a fun experience. I’m embarrassed to say this but I had only ever attended one talk in the four years I’ve been at Texas State. The best part was that I walked out of every talk feeling motivated. Everyone I heard speak was very informative and reassuring. They let you know that it’s not going to be glamorous at first but as long as you keep working at it and as long as you love what you do, success will come. I love what I study so I’m really looking forward to seeing where it takes me. I attended talk with Bharati Nasik about her journey from Texas State to CNN International in London. Hearing that an alum of Texas State was working alongside Anderson Cooper and other journalists of his level was very inspiring. I also attended a talk with the news director of WFAA in Dallas. She was the best. She talked about everything having to do with news. She talked about how to look for stories, she talked about how to get the stories, what its like in the newsroom, who does what, how to stand out to your boss, just everything you needed to know. I am so glad I was able to hear her I took a lot out of it.

Got turned down dozens of times before being hired by CNN #mcweek

I wasn’t able to attend any of these panels, but I’m glad you had such a great experience with all your panels! And especially since this was your first time attending mass comm week!
I’m jealous you got to see the news director of WFAA, I really wanted to attend her talk but it was on a Friday morning and I slept right through it, oops lol.
