Hey guys! I’m Shelby Schimcek and I’m 22 years old. I am a Public Relations major with a minor in Studies of Pop Culture. I will be graduating in December and I can’t wait. I am from Midland, Texas, which is literally in the middle of nowhere in the West Texas region. I am a huge music fanatic and would one day like to start my own music festival. I also work for Texas State’s radio station, KTSW 89.9. I am on the promotions staff and host my own specialty show, Mercury Metal. For those of you who are metalheads or interested in learning about metal, you can tune in to my show every Monday from 10 p.m. to midnight on KTSW 89.9 or ktsw.net. I’m also a big nerd and love watching anime and playing video games as well as being outdoors, following fashion trends, keeping up with my favorite sports teams such as the San Antonio Spurs and playing my piano.
I’m taking this class as a Mass Comm elective, but also because I want to learn more about coding and to better my computer skills. One of my favorite websites is Twitter. I love Twitter because it’s simple, fast and so easy to connect with people around the world.
Congrats on graduating at the end of this semester! As someone who loves concerts, I think it’s so cool you want to start up your own music festival. I hope you make it happen!
